Discover Coffee Circus Porto

Tucked along 149 Triq D'Argens, Ta' Xbiex, Malta, Coffee Circus Porto is one of those places you stumble upon once and then keep returning to. I first visited on a breezy weekday morning after a waterfront walk, planning to grab a quick espresso. Instead, I ended up staying for brunch, laptop open, soaking in the easy rhythm of the diner-style space and watching the steady flow of locals, office workers, and tourists who clearly knew they were in good hands.

The location itself is a major plus. Ta’ Xbiex is known for its marina views and embassy-lined streets, and being just off the seafront gives the café a relaxed yet professional vibe. Inside, the setting balances cozy and contemporary-wood accents, bright natural light, and a menu board that reads like a promise of comfort food done right. It feels like a proper neighborhood spot, but with the polish of a well-run restaurant.

Let’s talk about the coffee first, because that’s where Coffee Circus Porto truly shines. Malta’s coffee culture has grown significantly in the last decade, with specialty coffee becoming more mainstream. According to the Specialty Coffee Association, quality brewing methods and ethically sourced beans are key drivers of modern café standards worldwide. You can see that influence here. The baristas don’t just press a button; they weigh, grind, tamp, and extract with care. I watched as my flat white was prepared step by step-freshly ground beans, precise extraction time, silky microfoam poured with steady hands. The result? Balanced acidity, a smooth body, and a clean finish. Not overly bitter, not too milky-just right.

Beyond espresso drinks, the menu offers a thoughtful range of breakfast and brunch plates. From fluffy pancakes and hearty omelets to avocado toast layered with poached eggs and a sprinkle of chili flakes, everything feels intentional. On my second visit, I tried their classic full breakfast. The eggs were cooked exactly as requested, the sausages had a satisfying snap, and the grilled tomatoes added a bright, juicy contrast. It’s the kind of plate that looks simple but requires attention to timing and heat control in the kitchen. Consistency, as any culinary professional will tell you, is what separates a good diner from a great one.

What stands out is the balance between indulgent and wholesome. There are fresh salads, wraps, and lighter options for lunch, yet you’ll also find comfort food staples that hit the spot after a long day. Portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming. It’s clear the team understands their clientele-nearby office workers need quick but satisfying meals, while weekend visitors want something leisurely and Instagram-worthy.

Service deserves a mention too. In multiple reviews I’ve read and from my own experience, staff members are friendly, efficient, and genuinely attentive. Orders arrive promptly, and special requests are handled without fuss. That kind of reliability builds trust. In the restaurant world, repeat customers are the strongest sign of quality, and during peak hours, the steady buzz here says it all.

From a broader perspective, dining trends in Malta increasingly emphasize transparency, quality ingredients, and comfortable communal spaces. Organizations like the World Tourism Organization have highlighted how food experiences shape travel satisfaction. Coffee Circus Porto fits right into that narrative. It’s not just about grabbing a drink; it’s about enjoying a well-crafted meal in a welcoming environment that reflects the local lifestyle.

Of course, like any popular café, it can get busy-especially during brunch hours. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, mid-morning on a weekday is ideal. Parking in the area can also be limited, so walking or using public transport might save you time.

Overall, whether you’re scanning the menu for a strong cappuccino, a laid-back lunch, or a casual meeting spot in Ta’ Xbiex, this diner delivers a dependable and enjoyable experience. The combination of quality coffee, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and a prime Malta location makes it a standout choice for both locals and visitors exploring the island’s vibrant food scene.

  • This place serves very good and unique coffee, along with delicious cakes, Toastas, and more. I tried their espresso and Carrot/Chocolate Cake, the coffee was very good. I’ll pass by again soon to try their Toastas. The atmosphere is cosy inside, and they also offer outdoor seating. I highly recommend visiting if you enjoy good coffee

  • Good esspresso pulls, nice variety of drinks (coffee based and otherwise), assorted light bites and cakes. The atmosphere is great, most other coffee shops feel like restaurants or very sterile. This has the feel of a community coffee shop. Very cozy warm and friendly. The staff is usually laughing and having a good time. The perfect place to bring a book, have a drink, and let time pass by while reding. So glad it is just a few blocks away.

  • A really cozy cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating that feels warm and inviting. The decoration gives off the charm of a neighborhood gathering place or even a welcoming home. Service was friendly and attentive, which added to the experience. The desserts were homemade, delicious, and offered a nice variety including some famous South American treats that were a pleasant surprise. Coffee was also very nice and paired perfectly with the desserts. Overall, a lovely spot to relax and enjoy good coffee and sweets in a homely atmosphere.

  • Very stylish cafe, coffee is as good as I've had in Portugal. Cakes are delicious too. Barista is very friendly. It would be perfect if they can add decaf option in the future.
